Covering about 5.5 million square km, the Amazon Rainforest is the largest tropical rainforest in the world.
Tropical rain forests in general are located near the equator, and 57% of these rainforests are located in Latin America. One third of the world’s rain forests, including the Amazon itself, are located in Brazil. 25% of the world’s tropical rainforests are located in Southeast Asia and the Pacific Islands. 18% of tropical rainforests are in West Africa. |
